Frequently asked questions

What law firms ask us most often.

Does Advoca support Peppol and UBL for electronic invoicing?

Advoca creates a structured UBL file (XML) for every invoice and credit note, containing your VAT number, address and IBAN, for the Belgian e-invoicing obligation between VAT-registered businesses that has applied since 1 January 2026. Advoca does not yet send invoices over the Peppol network itself; that is done through a Peppol access point of your choice.

Which VAT regimes are available for law firms?

The regimes that occur in a law practice: standard 21%, reverse charge (medecontractant), intra-Community service, exemption under Art. 44 of the Belgian VAT Code and pro deo (second-line legal aid), each with the statutory wording on the invoice. For each invoice line you choose fee, cost or disbursement, and the structured payment reference (gestructureerde mededeling / communication structurée) is generated automatically.

Where is our data stored, and what about professional secrecy?

Every firm works in a strictly isolated environment, enforced at database level (row-level security), with an audit trail. Backups are encrypted, stored immutably in the EU and automatically restored to check that they work. Advoca acts as processor under a data processing agreement in line with the GDPR and does not look at your matters unless you ask us to for support.

How is the price calculated?

Per user per month, excl. VAT: Core €69, Advanced €99, Advanced+ €119. No set-up fee, unlimited matters and documents, cancel monthly. If you add a user, your subscription adjusts automatically. Students get a 90% discount.

Can I try Advoca free for 30 days first?

Yes. Every new firm tries its chosen plan free for 30 days, without a payment card. In the last week Advoca asks you to add a payment method. You can cancel at any time.
