The situation

A firm that advises SMEs on company law, contracts and acquisitions. Clients are businesses, some of them in the Netherlands or France. Many matters run on a fixed fee or with a budget.

How the firm uses Advoca

B2B invoicing in 2026

Since 1 January 2026, invoices to Belgian businesses must be issued as structured e-invoices, by default via Peppol. The firm therefore records the VAT number of every business client and checks its own firm details; Advoca refuses to send an invoice without the firm's address and VAT number. Read the Peppol guide.

Frequently asked questions

Can I invoice foreign businesses without Belgian VAT?

Yes, with the "intra-Community service" regime: 0% VAT with the wording Art. 21 §2 of the Belgian VAT Code. Assess for each client whether the regime applies.

What about Peppol for my business clients?

Advoca creates a UBL file for every invoice; you send it via Peppol through an access point of your choice. See the Peppol guide.
